Crazy about Paris
Crazy about Paris is the somewhat different roadmovie.
Hilde, Karl and Philip are handicapped. They live in a home for disabled people in Bremen. Philip and Karl make toy ducks in a workshop and Hilde peels potatoes by the bucket in the home’s kitchen. Hilde is still incredibly curious for her seventy years and dreams of Africa. The sensitive Philip has fallen out with his girlfriend, whilst Karl plans to make it big in the "free economy". Together they all yearn for a life full of new challenges. They secretly plan an outing and run away from the home. On their journey, which takes them first to Cologne and later to Paris, they discover opportunities previously undreamed of and attain new personal freedoms.
The trio’s burnt-out counsellor, Enno, reluctantly sets out to bring them home. A chase full of hindrances takes it’s course, at the end of which everything has changed for all those involved – even for Enno, who falls in love in Paris and is no longer sure that he truly wishes to return to his old life. After all, everything and everyone is crazy about Paris...
